Fundraisers

If you want to apply for grants and/or funding, you can choose to do it all on your own. If you have a very large or complex project, it may be helpful to enlist the assistance of a fundraiser.

You can submit grant and funding applications on your own. On this website, you’ll find information on how to do so, as well as an overview of funds and programs. If your project is large or complex, or if you find fundraising difficult, you can hire a fundraiser. Cultuur Academy the Firestart Fund.

Below you’ll find fundraisers who can help you identify opportunities and draft grant proposals. They often work on a “no cure, no pay” basis, for a fixed fee, or a combination of both. Take a look at their profiles and feel free to contact them to see what’s right for your project.

Senior fundraisers

Looking for advice from someone with a lot of experience in the cultural sector and specifically in fundraising? Then be sure to check out the list below:

Junior fundraisers

Through the Firestarter Fund, we’ve met a number of enthusiastic, junior fundraisers who can help you move your project forward in an accessible way. We’d like to introduce them to you:

Rosalie van Oorschot Mail

Since my bachelor's degree in Fine Art at ArtEZ Arnhem, I have been walking back and forth between my own creative practice and the business side of the cultural world. I now have a master's degree in Cultural Economics & Entrepreneurship and a broad working experience. I am mainly active in the visual arts, but also involved in theater, literature and activities in public spaces. As a junior fundraiser I can support you well in sharpening your texts and ideas.

Hedwig Sinnema Mail

For me, fundraising is not necessarily (only) about money, but mainly about articulating and enabling an artistic, cultural, and/or social goal. As a fundraiser, I am happy to commit myself to ensuring that you get the resources you need to carry out your plan, performance, or project. I enjoy writing and assess each project or fund is needed. If you don't know where to start, if you have an initial idea in your head and want to clarify the core of it, if you are already well on your way but just need to put it on paper: I can think and write with you at every stage.

In addition to being a fundraiser, I have experience as a business manager/assistant, especially in the performing arts for various theater and dance companies. I also guide creators in their artistic (professional) practice. This means I can look at and think about more than just a single project plan or application.

Writing a grant proposal always feels like an exciting challenge, but it also provides a lot of insight into the project you have in mind. I work as a designer/artist myself and, in that capacity, have applied for and been awarded various grants (including Heij Konijn and the Stroomversneller). In my circle, I often hear others say that they find writing an application difficult or aren’t sure how to go about it. This is a feeling I absolutely understand. I’d like to help people get past this hurdle.

There are also agencies that specialize in (consulting on) fundraising in the cultural sector:
