Fundraisers

When you want to apply for grants and/or funds, you may choose to do it all yourself. If you have a very large or complex project, you may want to enlist the help of a fundraiser.

Funding

If you want to apply for grants and/or funds, you may choose to do that all by yourself. On this website we have described a lot of information about this, including an overview of grants and funds.

In some cases it is more difficult to do this yourself, for example when your initiative or project is very large or when it is more complex to determine where your opportunities lie. Fundraising is a profession that does not suit everyone. In such cases you can choose to hire a fundraiser. Cultuur Academy has also developed a special fund to employ a fundraiser: the Firestart Fund.

Firestarter

Do you have an idea for a project, but find it difficult to apply for funds? For this we have developed a new fund : the Firestarter.

Below we have collected names of people and agencies that know their way around the world of grants and funds. They can help you to see where your opportunities lie and often have good contacts that allow them to move faster. Most fundraisers are also able to prepare the application based on your input. Often fundraisers work on a no cure, no pay basis which means that you only have to pay them a fee when an application is approved. They may also charge a fixed fee or it may be a combination.

You may find a fundraiser that fits you and your project in the list below. Study their profile and visit their LinkedIn. Feel free to contact them to explore together if and how they can help your project or initiative.

Senior fundraisers

Looking for advice from someone with a lot of experience in the cultural sector and specifically in fundraising? Then be sure to check out the list below:

Junior fundraisers

Through the Firestart program, we have met a number of enthusiastic, junior fundraisers who can help you move forward with your project in an approachable way. We are happy to introduce them to you:

Rosalie van Oorschot Mail

Since my bachelor's degree in Fine Art at ArtEZ Arnhem, I have been walking back and forth between my own creative practice and the business side of the cultural world. I now have a master's degree in Cultural Economics & Entrepreneurship and a broad working experience. I am mainly active in the visual arts, but also involved in theater, literature and activities in public spaces. As a junior fundraiser I can support you well in sharpening your texts and ideas.

Hedwig Sinnema Mail

I have a bachelor's degree in communications and a master's degree in arts policy and arts administration. I work in and for the cultural sector in Arnhem and Nijmegen in the field of funds, policy, communication and project support. In terms of fundraising you can come to me for different disciplines: mainly film, dance and literature, but also other disciplines such as visual arts and music seem interesting to me to learn more about. For me it's mainly about connecting with a creator and making ideas, art and culture possible.

Guusje de Bruin Mail

Writing a grant application always feels like an exciting challenge, but also provides a lot of insight into the project you have in mind. I myself work as a designer/artist and have applied for and been awarded several grants in that capacity (including Heij Konijn and the Stroomversneller). Around me, I often hear others say that they find an application difficult or don't quite know how to go about it. This is a feeling I absolutely understand. I would like to help people cross this threshold.

Merel Sweers Mail

In addition to enjoying working as a freelance producer for cultural festivals, I enjoy helping others make great projects possible. As a fundraiser, I love to help turn your artistic ideas into compelling applications. I combine my writing skills and content knowledge from my master's degree in Art, Culture and Politics (UvA) with my freelance experience from the field. I enjoy working in the disciplines of dance, theater and film, but am also enthusiastic about other fields in the cultural sector such as visual arts and music. I would love to collaborate with you to realize your artistic ideas!

Esmee van den Akker Mail

Fundraising to me means being able to translate well. After all, artists and grantmakers actually want the same thing: a thriving cultural field. But the language they use to express that is very different! Because of my dual background as an artist and cultural scientist, I understand your way of working as a maker, and I know the way a fund thinks and talks about it. This enables me to build bridges and make clear why your project should be realized. Shall we meet sometime?

Agencies

There are also agencies that specialize in (consulting on) fundraising in the cultural sector:
