Get involved in governance in the cultural sector!
Research and training program
The project consists of a preliminary study of the needs and motivations of young people and cultural institutions, followed by a training program for young people who are or want to become members of a supervisory board or board of directors. In this way we ensure that young people and the cultural sector are completely ready for each other!
Training track
The training program consists of 11 sessions on Tuesday evenings, alternating between Nijmegen and Arnhem. The young people learn everything they need to be a good director. They receive media training, learn how to ask the right questions, become acquainted with all the codes that cultural organizations must abide by, learn how to take possible risks for your organization into account and how the finances of a cultural organization are structured.
Traineeships at cultural organizations
In addition to the training sessions, the course for the participants also consists of gaining practical experience. For young people who are not yet members of a supervisory board or board of directors, we are looking for traineeships at cultural organizations in Nijmegen and Arnhem. As a participating cultural organization this is a great opportunity to take a (first) step towards the rejuvenation of the board, and to learn and experience what it takes to achieve this.
The value of young people in governance
Cultural organizations are always working to reach their audiences, and often to make them more diverse. But young people are difficult for many organizations to reach. Involving young people in the governance process gives cultural organizations valuable input on how this audience views the organization, and what steps can be taken to become more attractive to young people.
Own skills
Furthermore, young people often have a very unique set of skills, for example in the digital world. With these skills and knowledge of how the world of today and the one of the future works, they are a valuable addition in setting the direction within the organization.
Benefits of co-management
As a young person, there are several advantages to becoming a member of a Supervisory Board or Board of Directors of a cultural organization. First, you gain board experience: a good way to prepare for or position yourself within the job market. Furthermore, it is a great opportunity to get to know a cultural organization inside and out.
Build your network
Holding an administrative position gives you an entry point into the cultural sector. You get to know all kinds of people from inside and outside the cultural sector, often people with a lot of experience. This is very valuable for building your network. It also takes you to places you wouldn't have gone otherwise.
Decide with us!
The essence of co-management, of course, is that you influence the direction and strategy of a cultural organization. You help think about matters such as marketing, program and personnel policy. In this way you play a significant role within the cultural landscape of your city! A great way to contribute to the cultural sector.

The Generator East (closed)
Are you the person who likes to pull all the strings, can plan and organize and budget? Do you enjoy working in teams and taking a leadership role? Do you want to gain focused experience and expand your knowledge to develop yourself as a business leader within the performing arts? If so, we are looking for you!

Groeispurt X Four Day Celebrations
Every year Nijmegen prepares for the Four-Day Festivities with excitement: the entire city center is transformed into an event site and the possibilities seem endless. Everyone walking in the city during the build-up week feels the jitters, a pleasant lull before the storm. This year, Vierdaagsefeesten en Groeispurt is once again asking artists from the city to capture that energy and turn it into art.
