The board of the Cultuur Academy Foundation seeks a secretary (unpaid)
Due to the departure of our current board secretary, we are seeking a new board member for this role. We strive for diversity within our board, as it makes our work more innovative, creative and fun. For that reason, we are actively seeking someone with knowledge of non-West European cultures and a network of people with that background. Cultuur Academy aims for its team to reflect the demographics of Arnhem and Nijmegen, and wants to grow towards this in the coming years (2025-2028).
As secretary, you will become part of a board that does not yet fully reflect the diversity of the Nijmegen and Arnhem region. This is something we want to change. Therefore, we are looking for someone who, with his or her talents, will contribute to a board culture in which all voices from the Arnhem/Nijmegen region are heard and valued.
Who are we looking for?
As secretary, you will ensure that processes and procedures are carefully conducted and acted upon in accordance with board obligations. You are responsible for reporting. An external note taker is present during the meeting, but you are ultimately responsible for reporting. You are the memory of the board.
We are looking for a committed secretary who gets excited by the mission of Cultuur Academy. In this role, you recognize yourself in the following profile:
- You have experience in carefully organizing and streamlining processes (consider also experience from volunteer work, study or personal experience).
- You know the cultural sector and its issues, with specific affinity for the maker side (e.g., as an artist, teacher or social worker).
- You are communicatively strong, can ask critical questions and dare to enter into conversations in which things may rub off, without losing sight of the other person's situation.
- You have knowledge of non-West European cultures and a network of people from that background.
The Board of Cultuur Academy
The board of Cultuur Academy Academy consists of five members. Together we form a multidisciplinary team that complements each other and works with integrity, responsibility, constructiveness and independence. We apply the Culture Governance Code, the Fair Practice Code and the Diversity & Inclusion Code.
In principle, we meet six times a year in the evening (with tea and cookies) and give advice to the director in between when there is reason to do so. We also visit the team and Cultuur Academy activities several times a year. The board position is unpaid, but expenses are reimbursed and participation in trainings is of course possible.
