Workshop - The basics of Excel
From blank sheet to clear overview: learn how to use Excel effectively in cultural practice.
Excel, we've all worked (or struggled) with it at one time or another. Its endless formulas and possibilities make it a powerful program, but also a source of frustration. For anyone who has ever sighed over a budget, or stared blankly at an Excel sheet, there is good news: this workshop finally makes Excel clear and workable. Learn how to take charge, and how to make Excel work for you.
For whom
This workshop is for anyone in the cultural sector who wants to master the basics of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft's spreadsheet program. Whether you're an artist working on a grant application, a producer creating playbooks, order lists and schedules, or a novice business leader who suspects budgets could really be more efficient.
After this workshop
- Know what the working principles in Excel are and what you can use it for.
- Have mastered some basic formulas that you can use independently in the future.
- Know better how to make Excel work for you.
Program
Step by step, we will walk you through the basics of Excel and teach you how to work with it effectively and efficiently. The focus is on applications relevant to cultural professionals, such as drawing up a project budget, keeping records and preparing a script. No general examples, but recognizable situations from cultural practice. Do you have specific learning requirements? Let us know via the registration form.
At the start of the workshop you will receive an Excel workbook that you open on your own laptop (so: don't forget to bring it!). This way you can immediately apply everything you learn, and you will go home with a useful example document that you can use again later. During the workshop theory and practice alternate. You will learn to work with key figures, enter data, make calculations and format worksheets, tables and cells clearly. Does that still sound like abracadabra? No worries, after this workshop the average Excel sheet has no more secrets for you. The workshop can be taken with the use of Microsoft Excel as well as Google spreadsheets.
