Training - Inclusive leadership

Guide a diverse organization where everyone feels at home; take the first step toward inclusive leadership with this training.

A diverse organization can achieve more than a homogeneous organization, but how do you go about it? Different generations, diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and diverse ethnicities - with all this variation within your team, you want to make sure that everyone truly feels at home and safe. That every employee, regardless of background, feels heard and valued. This sounds like a noble goal, but how do you achieve it?

As a leader, you don't have to carry this alone; inclusion is a joint effort between you and your team. But you do set the tone for how you approach this as a team and as an organization. The question is: How do you create such an inclusive organization, and how can you as a leader support and guide that process? In this training we explore exactly what inclusive leadership means. We provide practical tools to take immediately applicable steps towards a workplace where everyone feels included. Together you will lay the foundation for an organization in which diversity and inclusion are truly expressed.

For whom

This training is especially for leaders in the cultural sector, whether you are just beginning to lead a small company or have been at the head of a large, subsidized organization for years. We explore together, from the six principles of inclusive leadership, how to make your organization inclusive.

After training:

  • Have a better understanding of what inclusive leadership means and how it fits with your personal style;
  • Are you inspired to explore, where appropriate, new ways of leading;
  • Understand the connection between social safety and inclusive leadership;
  • Have concrete tools to apply inclusive practices in your daily work environment.

Program

The inclusive leadership program that Cultuur Academy has put together with NewBees INC. consists of four unique components that help you put what you learn into practice immediately. This way we make sure the training really sticks and you take concrete steps towards inclusive leadership in an inclusive organization.

Masterclass
The first session is an inspiring masterclass in which you learn all about diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). We dive into what these concepts mean for your organization and sector and discuss interventions that have been proven to work.

After this masterclass, you not only have more insight into DEI, but you also know which
interventions can make a real difference in the workplace. You will also be introduced to the six core competencies of inclusive leadership: awareness of your own (pre-)judgments, curiosity about others, effective collaboration, dedication, cultural intelligence and humility. We look at different forms of diversity and include the sometimes challenging collaboration between different generations in the workplace. You will also meet your fellow participants here, so that together we can create a safe, trusting atmosphere for the rest of the program.

Deep Dive
In the second session you step into a VR experience in which you literally look through the eyes of someone who experiences exclusion in the workplace. With this virtual reality experience we dive deep into the topic: what does a safe and inclusive workplace really mean? The Deep Dive ensures that the conversations about this loosen up and everyone understands and feels why inclusion is so important.

E-coaching
After the first two sessions you are full of ideas and insights, but how do you make sure you really keep applying inclusion in the workplace? This is where your digital 'Coach Sacha' comes in! For eight weeks, Sacha will give you a short, targeted tip or trick every week during your workday (maximum 5 minutes at a time). These quick reminders and tips will keep you focused and remind you of the goals you've set. This way, inclusion becomes part of your daily routine, exactly where the difference is made: in the workplace.

Intervision
During the eight weeks with 'Coach Sacha' there are also two intervision moments scheduled. These are reflective sessions, in which you share experiences with the group and exchange practical tips to really apply inclusion in the workplace. These moments offer important support and fresh insights, so you can continue to take inclusive steps. You are not alone; everyone is working towards the same goal: an inclusive workplace for all.

Evaluation meeting
We conclude with an inspiring meeting in which we look back on the entire process together. What have you learned, what steps have you taken, and where do you still want to go? It is a time to celebrate successes, discuss challenges and adjust goals. Here we gather all insights, so you can continue to build an inclusive workplace with a clear plan.

Intervision
On December 9 we meet again to discuss how things are going based on concrete cases. This intervision method provides tools for possible future exchanges, should the need arise.
