Basic Fundraising Course
€195 (including tax)
Alternating between Arnhem and Nijmegen
Do you have an idea for an event, artwork, or cultural project and want to get started with grants? Or perhaps your idea isn’t fully formed yet, but you’d like to explore the possibilities of fundraising and grants first? Then our Basic Fundraising Course is a great place to start. The course is intended for anyone who has a good idea but isn’t yet sure how to apply for a grant or which fund .
The Basic Fundraising Course is always held on Monday evenings. Want to make the most of your day? Then join the Monday Club: a quiet afternoon session before the course where you can work on your plans. That way, you can pick up right where you left off in the evening and discuss your progress with the group.
For whom
Whether you’ve just started working in the cultural sector or have already gained some experience as a freelance professional, this introductory fundraising course will help you move forward. A maximum of two participants per initiative may take the course.
Be prepared: to get real results, the course requires dedication. You’ll receive homework assignments that allow you to work directly on your own plan. The more time and effort you put into it, the more you’ll get out of it.
After the course
- Do you know how to turn your idea into a clear project plan?
- Can you create a realistic budget and financing plan?
- Do you know which funds are a good fit for your project and practice?
- Do you know how a grant application is evaluated and what you need to keep in mind?
- Do you have a detailed plan that you can use for your application?
The introductory course on fundraising has given me the confidence to actually start writing and submitting applications. Whereas I used to feel that the hurdles were very high, they now seem lower and more surmountable.
Program
In this introductory course, you’ll start fleshing out your idea and be guided step by step through the process of turning that idea into a plan. Over the course of five evenings, you’ll work on drafting your project plan, creating a corresponding budget, defining your marketing strategy, and identifying the right funding sources. We’ll also cover the application process itself. You’ll leave with more knowledge, more confidence, and a solid foundation to really get started.
About the trainer
The course is taught by Moniek Klabbers, who has extensive experience in fundraising and writing project proposals. As a fundraiser, she has prepared grant applications for a wide range of organizations and projects over the past ten years. From writing project proposals to engaging partners, and from drafting budgets to liaising with funders, she is well-versed in every aspect of fundraising. In addition, shefund the Groeispurt fund for several years and therefore understands what it’s like to receive and evaluate grant applications.
The third session on your budget, funding plan, and funding mix will be led by Sophie Claassen. Sophie is a freelance business manager and holds this role at Theater Rast and Theater Krijt, among others. She also provides business guidance to artists and helps them secure funding.
In the fourth session, Belinda Limani will take you on a journey through the fascinating world of marketing and communication plans. Belinda is an experienced all-around marketer in the cultural sector. She works as a freelancer for a wide range of organizations. Currently, she serves as a marketer for Cultuur Academy LUX, among others.
