Experience with Stroomversneller: Joke Beltman & Chantal van Lieshout - PARK WOLK

The PARK WOLK project (working title) is a collaborative project between two Arnhem-based artists from different generations, Joke Beltman and Chantal van Lieshout.

"When I first met Chantal and saw her work, we recognized each other as 'kindred spirits.' The idea arose to collaborate and create an exhibition together. Despite the significant age difference, we share many similarities, such as a playful visual language infused with humor, a love of materials, mixed media, three-dimensional work, and installation art. We also share a creative approach in which we both want to express our own voices and ideas, free from commercial pressures, expectations, and preconceptions. Two artists who broaden each other’s perspectives and inspire one another from different worlds, meeting in the middle. For me personally, this collaboration also represents a ‘reset’—a return to the exhibition circuit after a period of absence.” — Joke

This collaborative project will result in various artworks that together form a large-scale installation, comprising spatial and kinetic works, incorporating wind, sound, and short videos. A surprising exhibition—a playful and organic whole offering unexpected experiences—a journey inspired by the concepts of “park” and “cakewalk” (fairground).

The primary goal of our collaboration is to hold an exhibition in 2022 in Arnhem, either in one of the contemporary art galleries or in a space we rent ourselves. The location and date have not yet been determined. It is possible that more artists will be involved after the first exhibition, and that the project may continue to evolve in other art spaces in the Netherlands or abroad.
