Workshop Know your audience

€15, including VAT

De Basis, Groenewoudseweg 322, Nijmegen

You or your organization creates or offers something special: for example, an event, a work of art, or a performance. Often, you know exactly why you create what you do. But do you also know who it’s for? And why those specific people need what you offer? The key lies in knowing your audience. Who are they, what are their interests, and why would they choose you? In this interactive workshop, you’ll gain clear insights and practical tools to get a sharp picture of your target audience. You’ll learn how to better understand your audience, how to capture their attention, and how to connect with them. This way, you’ll craft a story that rings true, is compelling, and truly resonates with the people you want to reach.

For whom

This workshop is for anyone in the cultural sector who wants to understand their target audience. From creators who want to understand who might appreciate their work and why, freelancers who want to focus on the right collaborations to employees of organizations who want to discover which audiences fit their offerings.

After this workshop

  • Do you have any tips for defining your unique audience?
  • Understand what motivates your audience and what they need.
  • Have you been able to formulate several new interesting audiences.
An informative and practical introductory workshop designed to help both creators and cultural organizers reflect on the audience they actually want to reach.

Program

During this workshop, we’ll start with your core: who are you, and what do you—or your organization—have to offer the world? Based on your unique value proposition, we’ll explore who your ideal audience is. Who are the people who might appreciate your work or services and are willing to invest in them? Through interactive exercises and inspiring insights, we’ll analyze your organization or practice. Together, we’ll discover how you can reach your audience and which strategies are best suited for that.

The workshop combines theory, personal reflection, and pair exercises. You’ll gain insight into your audience’s behavior and motivations, as well as practical tools to respond to these insights through your communication, presentation, and decision-making. Please note: this workshop does not yet focus on marketing, but it can serve as a great starting point for your marketing strategy.

About the trainer

After completing her studies in photography and film at the Utrecht School of the Arts, Eva Kaldenbach worked for six years as a TV editor for public broadcasting. During that time, she scoured the city and the countryside to find inspiring life stories and turn them into compelling television. In 2015, she founded De Verhalenmakerij . Eva has since trained and coached more than 300 creative professionals in identifying the elements of their unique stories. The common thread in her work is crafting a story that touches others’ hearts—not a vague or abstract narrative about what you do, but one that resonates with the aspirations of potential clients, buyers, and grant providers.

I’d love to help you clearly articulate what you’re putting out into the world and who it’s intended for. In this workshop, you’ll explore the core of your story and your audience, so you can better understand what sets you apart and why that matters to the people you want to reach.
